A little packaging guidance
Get your artwork ready to print
Keep the personality in the design and the print file precise. Start with the dieline for your selected pouch, or the agreed layout for your rollstock, and prepare the artwork for that exact setup.
Keep the template intact
Use the matching dieline without changing its size or orientation. Keep important text and codes within the marked safe areas. Check every panel, including the gusset on a stand-up pouch.
Prepare the print file
The current fulfillment artwork guidance calls for CMYK PDF/X-1a:2001, outlined text, embedded images and placed raster artwork at 300 dpi. Remove nonprinting guides, printer marks and unused layers from the final print file.
Plan windows before export
A window requires clear film and the correct white-ink setup. The artwork should identify which areas remain transparent and which print as opaque. Get the appropriate instructions before building that separation.
Review content as carefully as layout
Read product names, quantities, ingredients and other required information. Test barcode and QR output from the artwork you intend to submit. Check for guides or marks that have accidentally remained visible.
Keep file review and package testing separate
Check the print file and try the actual filled package before production. These checks answer different questions. Ask for the correct artwork instructions for your setup.
